About Abigail Pogrebin

Abigail Pogrebin, a Yale graduate, is the author of Stars of David: Prominent Jews Talk about Being Jewish (Doubleday/Broadway Books 2005), which was featured on GMA and Charlie Rose, went into eight hardcover printings, and is now being adapted for the stage, produced by Daryl Roth ("The Normal Heart").  Her second book for Doubleday was a frank look at every facet of twinship: One and the Same: My Life as an Identical Twin and What I've Learned About Everyone's Struggle to be Singular" (2009) -- featured on the Today Show, NPR, and in Newsweek.  Last year, Pogrebin wrote a Kindle Single for Amazon about her wild ride in the original cast of the Broadway flop, "Merrily We Roll Along." Called Showstopper, it made the Kindle bestseller list in summer 2011.

Abigail began her career in broadcast journalism, producing for Fred W. Friendly, Charlie Rose, and Bill Moyers at PBS, and then for six years at CBS News’ 60 Minutes, first as a producer for Ed Bradley, then for Mike Wallace.  Segueing to print journalism after her two kids were born (because she wanted to travel less), she became a senior correspondent for Steven Brill’s Brill’s Content Magazine and a contributor to Tina Brown’s Talk Magazine. She has written for publications such as New York Magazine, the New York Times travel section, The Daily Beast, Huffington PostHarper’s Bazaar, Good Housekeeping, Self, Parents, Salon, Tablet, The Forward, and Ladies Home Journal. She has moderated several conversations at the 92nd Street Y, and moderates a popular series at the JCC in Manhattan called "What Everyone's Talking About."  (Her guests have included Nora Ephron, David Remnick, Nicholas Kristof, Jonathan Alter, Mario Batali, Amanda Hesser, Gretchen Rubin, Julia Powell, Ed Koch, Jonathan Safran Foer, and Frank Bruni.) She lives in Manhattan with her husband and two children.  Abigail is available for select appearances or virtual book group discussions via Skype.  Contact apogrebin@gmail.com
